Asphalt Laborer
Key Responsibilities
- Rake and level asphalt to ensure a smooth and consistent finish.
- Distribute asphalt material to the proper depth and specifications.
- Operate hand tools such as rakes, shovels, and hand tamps.
- Spot and correct imperfections in the asphalt mat, including high and low spots.
- Ensure joints are raked properly and blended to provide strong compaction and a smooth finish.
- Communicate effectively with equipment operators and site foreman.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of asphalt paving experience.
- Knowledge of asphalt raking techniques.
- Proficient in the use of rakes, shovels, and hand tamps.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- Self-motivated and willing to learn.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Class A CDL encouraged but not required.
CDL Driver
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tandem axle dump trucks to transport asphalt, stone, millings, and other materials to and from job sites.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance issues.
- Back trucks safely to the paver and other equipment while maintaining awareness of crew members and surroundings.
- Work closely with paving crews to ensure a continuous supply of asphalt and materials.
- Load, secure, and transport equipment and materials in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and required documentation.
- Keep trucks clean and assist with routine maintenance and servicing.
- Follow all company safety policies and traffic laws.
- Assist with paving, grading, and labor duties when not actively driving.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, suppliers, and the public.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Experience operating dump trucks and hauling construction materials preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection requirements.
- Ability to safely back trucks around personnel and heavy equipment.
- Understanding of asphalt paving operations preferred.
- Ability to work extended hours during the paving season.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to assist with other construction duties as needed.
Asphalt Screed Operator
Key Responsibilities
- Operate screed controls to maintain consistent depth, slope, width, and mat quality.
- Make fine adjustments to achieve a smooth, level finish and proper joint matching.
- Monitor asphalt mix quality, temperature, and mat consistency throughout paving operations.
- Communicate effectively with the paver operator, roller operators, and ground crew.
- Understand and utilize automatic slope control systems to meet project specifications.
- Identify and correct paving issues such as segregation, uneven joints, and surface irregularities.
- Assist with setup and calibration of the screed before paving operations begin.
- Perform daily cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of the paver screed and related components.
- Follow all company safety policies and quality control procedures.
Qualifications

- Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and screed operations.
- Understanding of grade, slope, and mat consistency requirements.

Paving Foreman
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise asphalt paving crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Coordinate daily job site activities, including crew assignments, equipment utilization, and material scheduling.
- Communicate project goals, expectations, and safety requirements to crew members.
- Monitor paving operations to ensure proper mat quality, grade, slope, thickness, and joint construction.
- Coordinate with truck drivers, plant personnel, subcontractors, and project managers to maintain production.
- Inspect work throughout the project and address quality concerns immediately.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies and project specifications.
- Train and mentor crew members to improve skills, productivity, and safety awareness.
- Maintain daily job reports, production records, and equipment inspections.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and problem-solving throughout the construction process.
- Monitor equipment condition and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of asphalt paving experience.
- Previous foreman, leadman, or crew leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt paving procedures, equipment, and quality control practices.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and grade information.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage crews, schedules, and production goals.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work extended hours during the paving season.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Class A CDL preferred.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Roller Operator
Key Responsibilities
- Operate static and vibratory rollers to ensure proper asphalt compaction.
- Control roller speed, vibration, and path to achieve proper compaction.
- Follow designated rolling patterns to prevent material displacement and achieve uniform density.
- Ensure smooth transitions between passes to avoid bumps or uneven surfaces.
- Monitor asphalt temperature to ensure proper compaction timing.
- Adjust rolling techniques based on material conditions, thickness, and temperature.
- Identify and correct issues such as over-compaction, ridges, and roller marks.
- Ensure proper drum lubrication to prevent material buildup.
- Operate roller safely, avoiding sudden stops or movements that may cause bumps.
- Communicate with foreman and crew to ensure proper rolling sequence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of asphalt paving experience.
- Knowledge of asphalt materials and rolling techniques.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment.

Grade Foreman
Key Responsibilities
- Operate motor grader, excavator, rollers, skid loaders, milling attachments, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use motor grader to fine grade stone to correct specifications for municipal streets and parking lots.
- Utilize laser systems, grade stakes, levels, and other tools to ensure proper grade and drainage.
- Operate excavator to remove soft spots, asphalt, stone, or dirt.
- Supervise and coordinate prep crews on site.
- Ensure site grading meets plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Communicate with project managers and crews to schedule work.
- Maintain equipment and report any issues.
Qualifications
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Solid understanding of grade and drainage.
- Experience supervising or leading a small crew preferred.
- Class A CDL preferred for hauling equipment.
- Knowledge of grading, site prep, and asphalt paving preparation processes.
- Ability to read and interpret plans.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Estimator
Key Responsibilities
- Review and understand project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform site visits to evaluate job conditions, measurements, and scope of work.
- Calculate square footages, material quantities, labor requirements, equipment needs, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and proposals.
- Submit bids within required deadlines.
- Track projects out for bid and maintain estimating records.
- Ensure all project addendums and change orders have been updated.
- Meet and communicate with customers to clarify project scope and expectations.
Qualifications
- Experience in asphalt paving, sealcoating, or construction estimating preferred.
- Understanding of asphalt materials, paving procedures, and site preparation preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
